What happened to our founding fathers?

Did you know that signing the Declaration of Independence was the equivalent of signing your life away for most of our 56 founding fathers?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.  What kind of men were they?

Some lived way above the average life span for those days ( Washington, 67; Jefferson, 83; John Adams, 90; Madison, 85, etc.)- but a whopping 50 percent had to pay for these risks- as did the United States Military. ¹

Always cherish that. I appreciate living in this country more than I ever have; especially after spending over a month backpacking in Central America.

Take risks. With great risk comes great reward.
