Learn how to change your luck by learning one simple psychological principle- the lowest possible threshold.
The lowest possible threshold is the relationship between effort and result that involves the least amount of work and the highest return on investment.
Learning how to get both luck and skill is a matter of learning how to change the most malleable variable.
Every habit that you work on leads to other habits, which lead to other habits down the line– before you realize it, you’ve changed so much that the next habit would have been impossible to change initially.
Examples of Habitual Changes Using this Principle
It takes at least 21 days to make a habit.
Change Your Luck In the Dating World
If you want to learn how to change your luck when it comes to, for example, meeting women, then don’t try to become a casanova in a month by talking to attractive girls 10 times a day. Imagine how much anxiety you’ll feel if you
A) Don’t approach the amount you have decided on.
B) Do approach that amount.
Instead: break down what you need to do into small steps. Find some options that use the path of least resistance and the lowest possible threshold.
For ex:
- start asking random girls what time it is on the train.
- smile at women/men you are attracted to.
- go to meet up groups where you’ll be around women/men and make casual conversation.
Change Your Luck and Learn Sales Skills
If you want to learn how to change your luck when learning about sales, some ideas could be to:
- pinpoint where you thrive most and do that more (such as networking events, or online databases, etc.)
- If your phone skills are hindering you, make phone calls in front of a manager, or notecards, or while at a different setting, like the gym.
- Focus on one skill a month: such as asking the type of questions that make prospects think and express their needs.
If you try to learn how to prospect, how to manage a sales funnel, how to create vendor contacts, how to approach big clients, how to use influencing techniques, how to….
You get the picture. Focus on one thing at a time for 30 or 21 days. Then, if you need to, make it a little more challenging.
Change Your Luck with Language Learning
I’m learning my third/fourth language by learning French and web Coding. I’m not special, I simply follow the principles in Habit Transformation.
I know tons of people that want to learn a language but the task seems so hard that it never happens. It is very doable. You just have to start small.
- Listen to a program like the Michel Thomas Method, Pimsleur Method, or Rosetta Stone for 10 minutes a day for 30 days.
- Read a book by someone that is a linguist for 10 minutes a day and build your belief in the possibility that you can learn.
- Watch YouTube videos by Polygots and observe how MOST of these people struggled with learning languages until they found the right methods.
Get plugged into the community of like minded people and watch your abilities skyrocket with practice.
Tiny tweaks create massive change.
These are strange suggestions, but the new environment or habit (stimulus and action) will challenge your body and mind. |
