How to get recruiters to email resumes for you
Nobody knows what happens to resumes after you submit them, but one thing is for sure- nobody seems to read them.
Or if they do, they don’t get around to calling you unless there was something about that 1 page that really stood out to them. I don’t know about you, but there is something about watching clothes lose their wetness in the sun that reminds me of what it is like to sit around waiting for someone to call me for a job interview.
Instead, follow up! Always follow up.
Jigsaw is awesome for this! This is a business directory that gives you the power to look up company employees, specifically, recruiters; and it allows you to narrow your search to say something like, “Facebook. Atlanta. Recruiters.” What does that have to do with getting them to look at your resume? With the following method I was able to get 6 employees from one company to email my resume to the recruiter responsible for the Atlanta location; and I received a phone call within an hour. I also did this with a few other companies and most of them contacted me within a day. Some emails, some phone calls. It was like having the fish jump onto my lap before I even left the house.
What did I do? I just emailed them. What did I say? The truth:
Greetings,
My name is Juda Borrayo, and I applied for the ________ position that was posted on the ________website.
I have been tracking down emails in order to reach someone at the company and your name seems to pop up in a lot of places. I’m hoping you are in charge of hiring but if not I would be grateful if you would point me in the right direction.
I submitted my information last week and I just want to make sure my materials were received. I also want to reiterate my interest in the position, and in _______; I think we would make a great match. And I would love to talk about it with you when you are ready to schedule interviews.
I have attached my Resume in hopes that this helps clarify who I am on paper. Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this email. I hope to hear from you soon.
Attentively,.

Please don’t copy this verbatim- it should be your personality seeping through the words. Most of the people I emailed actually offered -or just went and did it- to email my resume to the main recruiter in charge of that position. Awesome!
Good luck. Let us know how it goes in the comments below.
